Websites for Smart Phones

Research projects that the majority of mobile phones by 2011 in the U.S. will be smartphones, with the devices used by half of cell phone subscribers, or 150 million people, by mid-2011.

Mobile Internet use is exploding. According to ComScore 63 million US Internet users browsed from a mobile device in January 2009. This is a whopping 39% of the Internet users. The conclusion is clear: consumers want information on the go. Businesses and organizations will have to respond to this and provide information and services on mobile devices. Regular websites are hard to navigate on mobile browsers. This means that companies need to create mobile websites or iPhone Apps if they want to communicate effectively with their customers. Over the next few years every company will have some kind of interactive mobile / iPhone apps which can be used for branding, marketing and sales effort.

Assuming that 150 million people will be using smartphones by mid-2011, that means 120 million will be on the mobile Internet and 90 million, or 60%, will be watching video, according to Nielsen projections based on current data trends.
