Relevance is a key component when back linking; just back linking to any old site will not help your site ranking.





So how do you check backlinks ?





GOOGLE :



Type   Link: followed by the URL



e.g.  Link:http://www.apple.com



Note: Quality of back links is better than volume.



This has to be done consistently, and should be an ongoing process over time, and over a period of years you will start to work your way up!
